Emily Hashiguchi began her dance training with Patricia Berrend in Olney, MD. She furthered her dance studies at Maryland Youth Ballet where she trained under the direction of Tensia Fonseca and Michelle Lees. Emily then went to train with Pamela Bjerknes, Erin Mahoney Du, and Runqiao Du at American Dance Institute. While still a student at ADI, Emily was given the opportunity to be a founding member of Ballet ADI (formerly Chamber Ballet) performing many original works by Runqiao Du. For the past two years, Emily has trained with Lilla Seber and Alvaro Palau at the Seber Method Academy. During that time, she was also able to be a company member with Classical Repertory Dance Ensemble, under the direction of Miya Hisaka, performing various classical and contemporary works. Some of the classical repertory she performed there includes Myrtha from Giselle and Big Swans from Swan Lake. While dancing with CRDE, Emily also was able to perform original neoclassical and contemporary works by Miya Hisaka and Chika Imamura. She has spent her summers studying on scholarship at School of American Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. She also was a finalist and participated for two years in the Kennedy Center master class series where she was able to take classes from artistic directors around the world. During the 2016-17 season with Virginia National Ballet, Emily performed in The Nutcracker, the World Premieres of La Boheme, Bohemian Rhapsody, Snow White, and at the Arts Alive Festival and Gainesville Ballet Spring Recital. She is thrilled to be entering her second season with Virginia National Ballet in 2017-18.
