Milena Lopes Marafioti Martins from Santa Catarina – Brazil, started her training at the Bolshoi Theatre School in Brazil in 2011, where she was trained by Galina Kravchenko, Ludmila Sinelnikova, Yulia Vasilyeva, Denys Nevidomyy and other renowned teachers during four years of study there. In 2014, she went to New York City for the New York Winter Festival with Ajkun Ballet Theatre. Also in 2014, Milena moved to New York to continue her training at the Joffrey Ballet School under the direction of Era Jouravlev, where she performed in Swan Lake, Le Conservatoire, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker and three George Balanchine works staged by Stacy Caddell: Walpurgisnacht, Stars and Stripes and Serenade. In 2017, Milena attended the Joffrey Summer Intensive in New York City and the Joffrey Miami Summer Intensive. Milena graduated at the Joffrey Ballet School in May 2018 and she is really excited to be joining Virginia National Ballet as an Apprentice for the 2018-2019 season!
